Congratulations to all of our teams on strong finishes for the 2009-2010 season. There was a great deal of growth and improvement throughout the season. It was so fun to celebrate with the Lions 15Gold, Lions 16Red, Lions 14 Red, Lions 17Red, Lions 12Red, Lions 12 Premium, Lions 13Red, 1st Alliance 16Black, 1st Alliance 17Black and 1st Alliance 17 Silver as they all had great showings in their year-end events. Fearless 13Red dominated the 13 & under division all year in the region and at Asics helping us set a record five medals at Asics. All of our teams competed hard, some got the breaks when they needed them, some did not, but that is what builds teams and character! To all of our players- keep working hard this summer, enjoy a little time off, and we hope you come back stronger and ready for another season with Lions, Fearless or 1st Alliance! Player of the Month
Jill Briner is our player of the month for June. Jill was the unsung hero on her 1st Alliance 17 Black team that recently won the AAU 17 & under club division. Jill is a six rotation setter/hitter and has a tremendous jump serve and wicked left arm. Congratulations to Jill and all the players that are such an important part of the successes of their teams!
We'd like to also acknowledge the following players that were nominated this year for player of the month: Ashley Holder, Jenny Porod, Ariah Palter, Emily Iverson, Amanda McNab, Claire Urchell, Caroline Rose, Jocelynn Birks, Amber Casey, Dani Van Laten, Caleigh Ryan and Melissa Deatsch. We all know that every player has a very important role on the team they are placed on and our staff truly appreciates each of their players.

Coach of the Month
Kevin O'Neil is the coach of the month for June. Kevin began coaching for 1st Alliance four years ago and immediately made an impact with his team. At his first qualifier, he led his team to the Championships and earned a bid to Nationals. Last year, his team finished off a very successful season to win the JVDA 17 club division championship. He followed that success with another championship, leading his 1st Alliance 16 Black team to the championship of the AAU National Tournament. Way to go Kevin and we hope to keep Kevin around for many years to come!
I'd like to acknowledge the following coaches that were also nominated this year for coach of the month: Julie Heatherly, Laura Bresnahan, Monica Renfrow, Bill Palter, Renata Dargan, Rachel Entler, Lis Muys, and Sheila Chambers. I believe that each of our coaches could have been chosen at one point of the season to be "coach of the month" as they all work extremely hard and are very dedicated and deserving!
