As we head into our final month of the season, we need to thank all of those that helped to make 2009-2010 such a successful and enjoyable season. Thank you to the parents for your support and dedication to your athlete, the team and the club. Thank you to the coaches for the many hours you have spent preparing and developing your teams. Thank you to the staff for helping to keep things running smoothly. And that you to the players especially the seniors that have been such great role models this year for our younger players!
I hope to see everyone at one of the summer camps and at the Club Party in a few weeks.
Good luck to all in their final tournaments of the season and to the boys that are returning for the month of June to compete!

Player of the Month
Dana Loncar, Lions 16 Gold is our May player of the month. Dana has worn many hats this season for 16 Gold. She has played outside, rightside, DS, and now she has stepped in as the primary setter, due to injuries to both setters on the team. Because of her hard work ethic, dedication, and desire to improve her volleyball skills, Dana has proven to be the team’s most consistent player- both offensively and defensively. Her ability to fill in at all positions, and the grace with which she handles new challenges, makes her the perfect candidate for Player of the Month!

Coach of the Month
Anne Mastandrea is the coach of the month for May. Annie balances coaching two teams this year, 1st Alliance 17 Black and Club Elite 13 Black. Anne has also coached a number of the spring clinics, and is always willing to help out with lessons. Anne has worked position practices all season and works specifically with our defensive players. She is very invested in her teams and wants the best for both of them. Annie’s practices are well organized and fast paced. Her teams have been successful due to hard work and dedication by the players as well as Anne. Congratulations to Anne!

Ask the Coach (this question has been asked over the last few months from parents, so we thought it should be put it in the newsletter again)
Q:New net rule
A: Contact with the net or antenna (Rule 11.3.1) is not a fault, unless it interferes with the play. Touching the top band of the net or the top 80 cm. of the antenna by a player during the action of playing the ball will always be considered as interference with the play.
Q:Foot crossing center line rule
A: When the penetration is with the foot, a part of it should remain in contact with the centre line or above it.
