Player of the Month
Stephanie Tassone is our April player of the month. Steph anchors the back row on Lions 17Red and keeps the team in many games with her calm, cool and collected demeanor on the court. She has become very effective at changing up serve receive patterns and directing the defense. Stephanie's defense is improving every practice and she has a great attitude and work ethic too. Keep up the great work Steph!

Ask the Coach
Q: Do coaches ever run out of substitutions? What happens then?
A: In junior volleyball, only 12 substitutions are allowed. So, do coaches run out of subs? ABSOLUTELY! The coach is in charge of keeping track of how many subs she/he has used. The refereeing team usually lets the coach know how many subs she/he has left, but this is only a courtesy and is not required. Once the coach has used 12 subs, no player is allowed to enter the game except the libero since her position does not count towards substitutions.
You will sometimes notice at the end of the game that a player who usually doesn't play in the back row is in the game or a player who usually doesn't play in the front row is in!
If you have a question for the Coach, send it to 1stalliancevbc@1stalliancevbc.net
