- Congratulations to all of the teams that have started their competitive seasons. The successes are adding up each week!
- Our 10's, 11's & 12's all had their first competitions this past weekend and there were many great plays on every court.
- Trip fees are now due.
- We are preparing for our Spring Classic 4/9-4/11 and will be looking for volunteers to help with set up, take down and various tasks throughout the event. The event will be much larger this year as a 13's & 14's division has been added.
- We hope to have summer camp info posted by the end of the month.
- Thanks to our parents who have been very supportive of the teams and players so far as they continue to develop.

Player of the Month
Amy Shembari is our player of the month for January. Amy is a rightside/setter on the 14Gold team and is a great team player. Amy is always cheering whether the team is up 5 or down by 6. She has yet to give up on a ball. She pushes at every game and at every practice. She asks questions, takes constructive criticism and is always willing to take that extra step that every athlete takes when wanting to excel. Congratulations Amy!

From there she moved to the 14Red team, 16Red team and then onto Alliance where she has coached the 16Silver team until moving to the 17Silver team this year. Beth has been known for her tough but fair style of coaching. She strives to excel in her coaching knowledge and recently put together a drill book. Beth assists outside the gym with the website development as well as many other areas including assisting with recruiting and coach development. Congratulations to Beth!

Ask the Coach
Q: New net rule
A: Contact with the net or antenna (Rule 11.3.1) is not a fault, unless it interferes with the play. Touching the top band of the net or the top 80 cm. of the antenna by a player during the action of playing the ball will always be considered as interference with the play.
Q: Foot crossing center line rule
A: When the penetration is with the foot, a part of it should remain in contact with the centre line or above it.
